My first attempt at brioche knitting

What a learning curve!

I saw some beautiful knitted scarfs on Pinterest and was intrigued.  So I did a little bit of research and found brioche knitting.  What I didn’t realise was that it was really going to mess with my brain with some time!

I looked on Craftsy (now BluPrint) and found quite a few classes.  I tried the one, but just couldn’t get my head around it.  I then tried the Explorations in Brioche Knitting class with Nancy Marchant and this really helped.  Now, I have to admit that I am not one for following patterns when doing creative things, so most of the struggles were my own fault because rather than knitting what they did in the class I wanted to knit a specific hat.  At the end I got there!  The border of the hat was my mistakes, trying to figure out how to knit in two colours, in the round.  The two colours was not the problem, the stitches in the round was, but at the end I got there (just before I could throw in the towel). I will go back and do the knitting projects in the class, now that I managed to do the hat I wanted to do in the first place.

Here are some photos of the progress and final project and ant the end I will put links for the course as well as a link to Nancy’s website which has some great tips, she also has a book which I am still looking at getting.  There is also a facebook group.

Here are all the links as promised:
