Over the past few weeks, I’ve been playing with my laser cutter again, this time experimenting with walnut wood — and I’m so excited to share the results! I’ve made a small collection of lightweight wooden earrings, each design playing with negative space and natural shapes. There’s something deeply satisfying about working with wood: the warm grain and how every pair turns out just a little bit unique.
You can see in the photo some of the designs I tried out — butterfly wing shapes, abstract patterns, and even a couple of more geometric styles. I’m loving how versatile walnut is; it gives off such a rich tone without being heavy to wear.
While I was sorting through my supplies, I also came across a little stash of bead earrings I’d made quite some time ago. It was a lovely surprise — like finding old friends tucked away in a drawer. There’s something joyful about how colour and movement come together in beaded designs, and it reminded me how much I enjoyed making them.
Now I’m feeling inspired to combine these two techniques — wood and beads — and see what comes of it. Perhaps a fusion collection is on the horizon?
Let me know which ones catch your eye!
