Handmade Wooden Laser Pins

I’ve been experimenting with something a little different recently – wooden laser pins! Using laser cutting and engraving, I created a small collection of pins inspired by cats (and one little bird that snuck in).

Each piece is cut from wood, with the natural grain giving every pin its own character. The cats are my favourite – one stretching, one standing tall, and a larger one with a detailed engraved face. The bird adds a nice contrast, a reminder of the little dramas that unfold daily in the garden.

What I love most about these is the mix of simplicity and detail. The silhouettes are clean and bold, while the engraved textures bring them to life. They’re light to wear, unique in appearance, and carry that warm, earthy feel that only wood can give.

This was a fun project and a great way to explore how laser cutting can be used for small, wearable art. I’m already thinking of new designs – maybe more animals, or even some abstract shapes.

Would you wear wooden pins like these?
