There’s something quietly satisfying about being organised in a way that still feels creative—and these little laser-cut wool labels have become exactly that for me.
I originally made them out of pure necessity. Like many crafters, I’ve often found myself halfway through a project (or worse, wanting to repeat one) and wondering: what yarn did I use for that? The colour, the weight, the brand—it all blurs together over time. So I decided to create a system that would work for me, and of course, I wanted it to be something tactile and lovely.
Each label is laser cut from wood and engraved with the yarn details—brand, type, and colour number. I then attach a small strand of the actual wool to it. It’s simple, but incredibly effective. Now I can see and feel exactly what I used, rather than relying on memory or scraps of paper.
What I didn’t expect was how much joy they would bring me. There’s something about opening a little tin filled with these tags—each one representing a finished project, an idea, or even a future plan. It’s like a tiny archive of creativity.
They’ve also made reordering yarn so much easier. No more guessing shades or scrolling endlessly trying to match colours online. Everything I need is right there, neatly labelled and ready.
It’s a small thing, really—but sometimes those are the things that make the biggest difference in our creative process.
And honestly… they just look so pretty too.
